Vanilla

SPICES OF THE WORLD: VANILLA

Spice up vanilla sales with engaging stories

Target group

This course is for sales advisors who seek to improve or add vanilla-selling skills to their repertoire.

Objective

Being able to advise on vanilla varieties and preparations, as well as tell an engaging story about why vanilla is a premium ingredient.

Tools

I used Figma for the content map and the storyboards, MS Word for the script, Canva for asset design and Articulate Rise for content development.

CHALLENGES

The most important challenge was the lack of access to an SME and therefore finding the exact objective of the course; I didn't want it to be just an info dump. I wanted to identify a skill niche. Another challenge was designing the course assuming that the learners didn't know much about vanilla.

ROLE

This is a personal project, therefore I undertook the role of the instructional designer, e-learning developer and proofreader.

Content map

The first step was to design a content map on Figma. This took place with concurrent content research. After the mapping, I realised that there are some stories and facts about vanilla that could be used to attract customer interest and to justify the premium price of the spice.

Colour theme

The next step was to select a colour theme for the course. I used the Coolors generator to select colours that work together and could be reminiscent of vanilla.

Script and storyboard

Once I had the information I needed and direction about where I would like to go with the course, I created the script on MS Word. After completing the writing and proofreading stages, I located image and video assets. Finally, I created the storyboard on Figma.

E-learning development

The last step was to develop the final content and add interactions on Articulate Rise.

RESULT

The full design and development cycle of the course was completed in two weeks. The end result was a course with learning content, knowledge checks and interactive customer scenarios.
